A few weeks ago, my car was having intermittent no start problems and according to the voltmeter, not holding a charge even while driving at high rpm. All signs pointed to bad ground on the alternator. After some time checking out some other things it was in fact as I thought - bad ground wire to the alternator. Re-grounded it and all was well, no more problems.
This morning I noticed the car turned over a little slow before it started. After starting though the voltmeter read a full 14 and it drove fine with no problems. This evening though when I went to start it, it turned over a couple of times and then nothing. The battery has enough power to turn on the dome light and instrument cluster lights, but it won't turn over to start the engine. In my mind this points to the battery - am I wrong?
If the voltmeter is showing a full charge when the car is running but showing nothing when I'm trying to start it, it can't be the alternator again can it?
Am I missing something else here?
