whirring sound when my foot's off the clutch - what is it? 200 1984

84 Turbo with m46 manual.

When I take my foot off the clutch (engine running and shifter in neutral) I can hear a "whirring" type of sound.

When I put my foot back on the clutch and depress it fully, it stops.

What can it be?
