Greetings fellow BBers,
Just wanted to share this one. The wife has been running 87 octane for the last 4-5 tanks of fuel since the frigging oil companies have decided to shaft the American public again and fatten their wallets by raising fuel prices to ridiculous levels. We have always ran premium fuel with an octane rating of 93. Sticking with only Chevron, Amoco, and BP(now amoco). The other day near Atlanta she fueled up at a BP. And noticed the car seemed to run like it had a skip in it or something. Well about 150 miles into the tank of fuel the check engine light came on. Since I do not have my own personal code scanner yet. I ran the hell out of the car on the way into town to check the code at the local Autozone (free). On the way the car smoothed out. I had it in low and was running 5500 rpms. The check engine light went out on it's own. I went ahead and had them run the scan. It came up P0305 misfire bank 5. I had the guy erase the code set and I went straight to the Chevron station and topped the half tank up with Chevron supreme 93. The car seemed to love it on the long ride home. I ran it hard again. It seems like the harder I run this car the better it runs. Go figure. Has anyone else experienced this one yet?
