140 full glass doors update 140-160

Hi All,

You may or may not have read my previous post regarding the full glass door swap onto early 142's. Thanks for everyone's input it made the swap very easy.

I have managed to pick up some '74 142 doors from a wrecker (read: paid through the nose) as seeing a 142 with full glass doors in a pick-a-part place here in sydney is like seeing an oasis in the desert, ie 999999 out of 1000000 it is a mirage.

Anyway, the doors were good there was no rust in them and everything worked, so I am in the process of painting them. Have stripped the drivers door (read: passenger door, for you guys in the U.S.)
back to bare metal, painted it with POR rust preventative paint (I cannot recommend their products enough), primed it with POR's 'tiecoat primer' now I'm just waiting 24 hours and I will top-coat it and install.

Notice I have filled in the mounting holes for the chrome side stripe as I am going to take this off right along the car for a smoother look. And I love those flush fitting 240 style handles, may not be for all but I like them.

I see what you guys meant about the side intrusion bar! That thing will stop a sherman tank, ok well maybe not but I am glad I made the upgrade.

This is the first step on an entire repaint for the car, as the current paint is terrible, someone tried to do a respray and totally stuffed it up, it is peeling everywhere. I have deceided to keep my car red although I am going for a slightly more vibrant red. Will show you the finished door when it is on the car.

Cheers,

Daz
