What's the IACV supposed to do? 900 1993

Hello Folks,

Still trying to pinpoint my hunting idle. I have a '93 940 NA with Regina. I'm getting 4 ohms at the IACV. I disconnected both hoses at the IACV and looked at the plunger as I plugged and unplugged the connector. The plunger "at rest" is against the stop near the intake hose. When I connect, the plunger moves toward the center of the valve (maybe 1/4") and then retracts back to its original position. Does this sound right?
