too good to be true '75? 200

looking at an ad for a '75 244 dl with close to 73k on it (close to that because supposedly the odometer quit only recently)- apparently it is in very nice shape cosmetically and runs well, enough to earn a "mint" designation - all for $2900. I have a feeling the original owners' records won't be available because it's an indie. dealer and it has traded a few hands just recently - the story was kind of vague. I never trust a car until i see the chain of custody and it makes sense. Does this sound reasonable or if it really was in excellent condition with no engine probs. / accidents wouldn't it go for more? some of the pieces don't add up....
