Front Brakes 200 1990

The second set of brake pads on the right front of my 240 with 94,000 miles are completely worn but those on the left still have about 70% of friction material still remaining. There doesn't appear to be any problems with the pins which would prevent the pads from sliding. Should I just figure there is problably a problem with the caliper and replace both or is it concevable that debris in the fluid may be causing this to happen?

When I installed the pads, I simply used a screw driver prying against the friction side of the old pads to reset the pistons. Could this have damaged the caliper?
