I need CPR! I mean, I need help diagnosing my CPR (control pressure regulator, of course) 200

Let me tell you the symptoms of a problem my 1982 B21 K-Jet has developed over the last two months, and see if it sounds like a control pressure regulator (aka warm up regulator), a thermal time switch, or something else...

We're talking cold starts here, but "relatively" cold is more like it. It's been 85 degrees outside everyday, and this problem even occurs when the car has just been sitting for 3 hours or so.

The engine cranks fine, but usually once you disengage the starter it fumbles around way below idle. You know, it sputters. Then it sputters out (maybe after 3 seconds).

Second start. This time it might catch some revs initially, like up to 1500 or so. Then it returns to its sputtering state. It may stall again here, or for some reason shoot back up to 1500 once more, only to slowly come down and stall.

Third start. Same as second start, with plenty of sputtering. This time, however, it manages to keep running.

This is all if I don't apply any throttle. Actually, in the "sputtering state", applying the throttle creates nearly zero response for the first moment or two, then it might rev up. If it is revved up (above 1500) and I hold it there with the throttle, all is well. I engage the clutch and take off and life is wonderful. But usually I can't even pull this off on the first start. Otherwise, the car runs beautifully. Great power, 25+ mpg average.

By the way, I checked the voltage at the cold start injector when cranking cold--zero volts. But it just doesn't seems like that would cause such problems. Especially when the cold start injector should hardly be firing--if firing at all--when it's 90 degree F outside.

Your help is appreciated. If it is the CPR, any tips on removing and cleaning? I loathe messing around under the intake manifold--it's such a pain--but I'll do it if need be.
