What keeps the idle up at speed? 900 1994

I have a 1994 940 non-turbo with Bendix/Regina. The idler air motor keeps the car idling at 775 RPM no problem. If I'm on the highway doing 60 MPH at about 2500 RPM, then let off on the accelerator, the car "jerks" as the throttle stop switch is contacted (accellerator let off completely). Is the jerking the result of my mis-adjustment of the throttle position switch and throttle stop screw? What keeps the engine running smooth at cruising RPM when you let off the accelerator? Thanks!
