Steering shudder 200

Hello all-

I've got an '88 245. Sometimes, seems like more when it's hot, when the steering is turned there's a pulsing, shuddering coming from the front end (you can feel it in the steering wheel). I know there's a slight leak in the power steering but I keep the fluid up. Could the rack be getting ready to go or might it be less ominous?
