Muffler and headlights 700 1989

The hanger bracket on my rear muffler has rusted and it then ate into the muffler and now my brick sounds like a souped up roadster. I need to R/R the muffler, bracket and the U-clamps that hold it on front/back, how difficult? Is it easier just to take it to my mechanic? It may be under warrenty from last time replaced but I am suspicious. Any advice appreciated. Okay, if you don't want to hear my headlight woes then stop reading.... I still have no lowbeams at regular running. The lowbeams come on when I select high beams, as does the left highbeam but the right highbeam is out(new headlight). I have replaced the bulb failure relay, bulbs (4-2 low/2high), sanded most every connection, you name it I did it. Only one spot I did not get to, the ground on the left lowbeam. Can this affect the right low/highbeam? Read above and you'll notice that only the rght. high does not come on when highs selected. I will try working on this connection but I am not optamistic. Anybody want to take a shot in the dark? Thanks for any help, it is always appreciated.
