Which oil cooler, oil/water or oil/air? 700

I am putting together a working B230ft from two hosts: an '88 and a '92. The engine will go into my '88 745ti. I can use the original oil-to-air exchanger, or I can use the newer oil-to-water cooler. Which one should I use?

I searched for a couple of hours, thinking I would find all kinds of archived discussions on this topic. I found a couple of posts: One said the oil/water cooler on the B230ft is "problematic"; a few more posts talked about water hoses bursting; and a final post said the oil/water cooler is "very effective".

John S., which one would you use? ;)

Thanks,

A
