Slim Pickings 900

The wife's Sable was totaled. Now looking for a 940. Pickings are slim at the moment. There is a green '95-945T, 78k, leather for $9,200. Dealer car and a little too high. A silver with leather 94 945T, 120k for $7,200. Seriously looking at a '94-944na with 148k for $4,900.

This car is black and has dark gray leather, only worn at the drivers side lumbar, mem seats, sunroof that wouldn't close for me (oops). Slightly trashed, broken hand hold, dirty engine, broken T belt cover, a couple missed oil changes judging by the looks under the oil cap. The car was low in rad fluid. The owner's husband or son added some coolant and the coolant level was just below the bottom of the overflow tank. But…it drove real nice, very tight, plenty of power for a na.

I am going to take it in for a pre-purchase inspection. I suppose it would be a good idea to get the cooling system pressure tested for an extra $20. I do not want to have to do a head job or replace a leaking WP if I don't have to. I will be driving it about 20 miles to the local inde and back and will have to keep car in the garage overnight (remember, the sunroof). There probably will not be a good history, it belongs to the sellers wife or mother or something like that. Invar type expenses (sorry pal) must be avoided. I could sneak out the spark plugs and check for oil fouling. Not sure what else to check for. Primarily just worried about the coolant loss.
