1981 B21F: My son’s car will start and run normally sometimes, other times it will turn over fine but not start. The no-start condition is sporadic, random, and apparently not related to ambient temperature or engine temperature. Engine has about 300k miles.
Tested:
Plug wires all show about 6k ohms resistance.
Installed a known good set of plugs.
Compression ranges from 163 to 170.
New fuel filter. Fuel reaching fuel filter for sure.
Continuity across all fuses.
Vacuum line to FPR does not show any sign of gas.
At the moment we tested for spark, #1 cylinder was getting spark. The car had sat for a day, so I really don’t know if we tested during a “no-start condition” or not, since the “no-start condition” is sporadic.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
