Stalling/Electrical/Overheating problem 1986 240GL 4-speed 200

My car started stalling the other day after it had been running for a while. After it stalled, the engine would barely turn over as if the battery was dead. Waited 5 minutes and it was fine. The next day I noticed the temp guage getting higher than I like and then it stalled. Once again, waited 5 minutes and it started fine. I didn't notice the temp guage the first stalling episode. I'm assuming everything is charging fine because it runs longer than it would with a dead alternator (just had a bad electrical gremlin a few months ago). Could the temp be part of this issue or is it probably a bad battery?

Any ideas?
Thanks a lot in advance for helping a dirt poor college student!
