anyone do free or dicounted volvo work (for practive even) in Phoenix area? 700 1987

1987 760 turbo sedan w/ intercooler:

my sister and i have shared this car since 1997 and let me tell you it has been one GIANT money pit. from replacing the crappy shocks with expensive nivomats, to having windows not work, to having to replace saggy headliner, to replacing neutral safety switches and fuel regulators and turbo hoses and coolant resevoirs, and power antenae, and countless belts, and timing belts and an alternator and not having the airconditioner work (in ARIZONA!!!!)....well you get the point. Also, my sister and i have been the ones who've had to pay for all this, no help from dad who initially bought the car from some nameless and shady used car lot. Not to sound ungrateful, but this car has been nothing but trouble for two students working minimum wage jobs, trying to get to school every day and juggling eachother's schedules and did i mention, we have no AC!!!

my question for you brickboarders, who have been so helpful in the past (because when i could fix something myself i would always try my best and ask your help) is whether anyone does free or discounted work in the phoenix area. i know this is a long shot, but beyond breaking the car apart and selling it for parts, i don't know what else to do (might as well ask, right?) it is suffering idle issues and possibly has worn seals at the turbo or leaks along a vacume line or two (i don't even care about the AC at this point, if it doesn't get fixed soon it won't pass emissions in september (it sometimes spouts burnt oil from the tail pipe)). i am willing to learn from someone and if he or she is free on weekends or evenings i would gladly come along to learn how to fix this car. i know i have complained a lot and you are probably wondering why i don't get rid of the car, but my sister does not have the money for a new car (i recently bought a new car for myself) and she starts grad school soon and i want to salvage what i can of the car so she has something reliable to drive. like i said, i am willing to come along and learn and show you what i know about the car, but i just don't have tons of funds to pay for labor or parts (though i would pay whatever i could).

so, if you are willing or able to help me and don't mind me coming along to learn PLEASE let me know. I live in the east valley (Chandler/Tempe/Ahwatukee area) and am available after six on weekdays and anytime on weekends. i live in an apartment complex and so don't have access to car jacks or heavy duty tools or adequate space, but if you need to meet me at my home then i can make those arrangements (the apartment people haven't complained yet about me working on the car before).

Again i know this is a long shot, but if anyone can help me, please let me know....

many many many thanks,

trina ypsilanti
