The radio on my '95 960 died and I was able to easily remove it and check connectors, etc. I can't tell what's wrong and I don't know what to do next. After it was dead for a few days, one of the code lights went on and I was able to get the controls to work briefly - but with no sound - for about five minutes. When I put a tape in to see if that mechanism was working, It whirred for a few seconds, then the whole thing died again. Can't get the tape out and no code lights.
I am wondering if this is conntected to the anti-theft light. Or do these things have a high failure rate and I'm better off buying a new stereo at Best Buy and forgetting about it. Also, a wire is plugged into the CD controller at the rear of the radio/tape deck, but I can't figure out where the CD wire runs out to. Lastly, a few places are selling a remanufactured SC-816 volvo cd deck to fit this car. Is this a good solution or not?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
