I bought a 1987 740 turbo this past January and have done quite a few projects to get it on the road. The car is running now and my biggest two complaints are that the transmission sticks going into any gear when I shift it (sometimes requiring a good tug to get it in) or the stick 'pops' back a bit after it is in gear (although never out of gear). Also, I am dripping Mobil 1 all over the place out of the back of my engine where it is bolted to the bell-housing of the m46.
Apparently I need new synchros to fix my transmission problem and I figure since I want to get rid of that oil leak I can replace the gasket while the tranny is off. My question is in a few parts...
1) Is replacing my synchros what I need to fix the tranny problem?
2) Where is the best place to get the parts I need?
3) Are there any pointers for doing the job trouble-free?
4) What other items (gaskets, etc.) should I replace once I have the transmission off since its only coming off once I hope? (I am doing the tranny mount too)
Thanks
