91 740T Wagon: 1. wheel alignment or major problem? 2. No light at transmission shift base. 700 1991

i, all!

I joined the Volvo cult tonight, by buying a used 91 740 Wagon with
126k miles on it.

It is a salvaged car repaired by Volvo after a front collision. Before
buying it I expected the front and didn't notice any damage/bends in
the engine compartment.

Also, the seller had its wheels replaced with 16 inch wheels from
another, "parts" car.

On the way home I noticed the following:
- when stopping at low speed, the steering wheel turns 15 degrees to the left, at the moment of stopping (if I don't hold it).
- at slow speed, the wheel is harder to turn to the right than it is
to the left (about 15%-20% difference in effort)
- at freeway speed (65 mph), the car turns to the left if let alone.

also,
- the light for the selected gear indicator at the base of the shifting lever (automatic transmission) is off even when I turn the lights on. How do I fix this?

I spoke to the seller and he said that a wheel alignment will take
care of these problems.

Please tell me,
- Can misalignment cause the difference in the turning?
- What is a good, fair-priced service in the South Bay area (+ West LA
/ Hollywood) ?
- When I go to the service, what are the things I need to check?

The car came without any records so I'll definitely check whether the
timing belt needs to be changed.

Thank you!
