Thanks to FitzFitzgerald, Smitty, and DeeJay for the welcome and advice on my new volvo wagon (1990), specifically advice on bad transmission fluid. Fluid has been flushed and it's shifting fine. Had new rotors installed in front, and brake pads all around -- driving like a dream. Will get a photo into the gallery once I get it waxed.
