Rear axle damage? 700 1989

My kid managed to lose control of his 740 wagon going around a curve, and bouced the right rear tire off a curb. Bent the rim, changed the tire, and it seems to track straight, but get a grinding noise out of the rear. Any suggestions as to what might be damaged?
