AW-71 from 740 to 240? 200 1983

Hi All,

The project continues--although last week's "blistering" pace has slowed considerably as my son and I have returned to school and work, respectively.

I've come across a newer auto-box with many fewer (about 90k) miles than our current trans . . . but it's out of a 89 740 turbo. What parts will I need to change to make it fit our 83 244Ti? So far, I'm thinking I'll need to change the output-/tail-shaft, and maybe the gear selection lever. Oh, probably the rear mount too. According to my parts man, the flex-plate appears to be the same . . . .

Anything else I should consider doing prior to the install (e.g., rear bushing/seal, selector lever seal(s), all those little plastic balls in the valve body . . . .)

As always, thanks in advance for any advice, BTDTs, etc.

Best Regards,

Steve A-
