Ref Previous mail fuel pump whine.
Opened the lot up, damn that ring is hard to remove with the rust and everthing. Anyhow, that crappy connector (some sort of resin filled thing) had a loose connector inside, no power to the pump. Got if fixed with a wire going through the spare third tube.
Must have been driving for at least a year without pre-pump. Did not notice anything wrong other than the whine and a slightly shaking idle. Never drive very fast either. Guess the feed-back control system made up for the loss in pressure. Main pump is not noisy, probably has not not suffered.
When I put the lot together though I noted a fuel leak, little pin-hole in the steel fuel line coming out of the unit. Patched it up, have to buy a new one at the dealer I think, won't be cheap.
Thanks for the advise.

Jorn
