Help..Pull away stall and no-restart..fuel smell 200 1993

The best way to describe the way she is starting up lately is like an old and cold lawn mower. Chugging and stinky. Smells like fuel. Until it warms a bit it coughs like its skipping or something (I'm no expert).

BUT! Today I started it and immediatly put in in reverse, she choked hard, sputtered like she might hold on then died as the car was backing up. Upon attempting to restart it just wouldn't keep running without the starter. Strong smell of fuel from exhaust (which incidently comes from the header pipe until warm -- hole there). Once I did get it going, after running the starter for 30-45secs, it seems like when I gave it gas, a lot of white smoke was coming from exhaust. Car was cold. And it was "skipping" when around 1500-2000 rpm more than usual.

It has been starting nicely then "skipping" after 10-15 seconds for a while now. Usually it smooths again after another 20-40 seconds, then runs fine. I know this and often let it "do its thing" before pulling away. Today it seemed more severe.

Where to look? I have done most "bad idle" fixes. FPR seems ok, Idle motor cleaned, New plugs, throttle body just cleaned, looked for vacume leaks, etc.

Thanks!

P.S. - Also exhibits the "hunting" idle on hard stop at stop signs when cold.
