May I get some quick advice on a car for my dad? It's a 1990 744 turbo with 167K miles. Great body, perfect rims, decent interior. Current owner is the second owner with all records since it was new. Looks like it has been well maintained in general with religious oil changes specifically.
Here's the catch that may or may not make this a good deal. It quit running a couple of months ago and the young owner decided to sell rather than fix. He's not had it diagnosed. Motor turns readily, but will not fire. It must be getting spark b/c it started when he sprayed starter fluid into the intake.
I know that's not much to work with. Given the excellent records, I'm thinking that it might be worth the risk, but I'm a rookie with turbos. He's asking $1500/offer.
Thanks for any advice.
Dave (1989 745 5-speed with 169K miles and 1992 965 with 154K miles)
