Hey All -
I've a very simple problem here, perhaps a bit simple for this board, but I'm hoping maybe one or a few of you can offer at least a quick tip.
When I start my car for the first time after a day or so of it sitting and turn on the lights and start driving, occasionally I hear a squeal. I think sometimes having the heater fan on causes it too.
The quick fix for this is to turn the lights/heater fan off for a few seconds. The car responds by picking up in acceleration, and the squealing stops. I can then ususally turn the lights and heater back on if I need them.
I even hear this squealing sometimes even after I've been driving for a few minutes and the noise is just loud enough to be louder than my radio (so I turn the tunes off and tune in to my car), and the temporary fix again has been for me to turn off my lights for a few seconds then turn them back on, and the car picks right up and runs normal again.
So is it something with the alternator belt? A tightening, replacement, or squirt with some WD-40?
Any tip would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot folks!
