SC-810 has an unused amp plug port? 900 1994

I removed the sc 810 receiver in our 94 965 today to clean the volume control. The PO spilled coke onto it and the right channel was non existant. I read an old dealer receipt that stated this problem and the fix was a new radio. Hah! I just cleaned the volume control with tuner cleaner and it works great now. I noticed that a plug port labeled amp had nothing connected. Is this for an aftermarket amp for better sound or should I look more closely for another plug? The receiver works fine although more power would be better. Thanks.
