MY PERFECT 240 GAVE 'HER' LIFE FOR WIFE AND DAUGHTER

Well guys, it's happened. Glad I traded the Mrs for the Minivan last week.

Wife and daughter enroute home from school in my 'perfect' '90 244, stopped at intersection, and creamed from behind by an F250 4x4 WITH BRUSHGUARD. P/U driver estimates he was doing 35 when brakes failed as he approached my girls. Very honest, nice guy (active Navy, by the way), and I could see brake fluid dripping from his front wheel cylinder on an apparently well-maintained vehicle, so the event was a surprise to all.

The Brick's 'crunch zones' worked, folding gently toward the rear window, and forcing the rear fenders forward...front buckets folded inward about 5 inches each (designed so as to keep you IN the car), and best of all...my loved ones didn't even suffer stiff necks...and 35 mph is a helluva slam from a big 4x4.

Front end, engine, and drivetrain are all perfect (AND I just finished installing a 'Summer' cooling system..metal radiator, oil cooler, HEPU Water Pump, special order '160 t-stat), but repair estimate is around $5k, so now I get to haggle with the guy's insurance company for total cost recovery, as they suggested the car 'might' be repairable...which we know it isn't...Brick's are designed to absorb such hits...but only once.

I'm reminded that this is why we love, and choose Volvos...'FOR LIFE'

Forced to drive a Chevy Impala rent-A-racer provided by insurance for now...only 6,000 miles and rattles from several places...even on interstate. This provided a great story at the Florida Volvo meet in Naples on Saturday.

...stay safe all...and keep Rolling
