Help, I've fallen and my Volvo 240 won't start.... 200 1983

Someone please help shed some light on my problem...
I have an 83 244 with the B23F engine. It has 157,000 miles, and it has been regularly maintained by a reputable Volvo mechanic.

I moved it up to North Dakota and have been having some starting problems. It started to run poorly when the temps dropped to -20 in Febuary. It would start, but would need to heat up for 5-10 minutes before it was driveable. Before it heated, it would idle fine, but when the accelerator was pressed- it had NO power and would not go more than a fast walking speed. I drove it like this several times, then One night after it had sit for 3 hours it would not start.
I checked the plugs, and they looked fouled- so after cleaning them and ample amounts of starting fluid it started. It put out some black smoke briefly- then quit. I have since pulled off the intake manifold and noticed some oil in the intake hose. I think that I may have somehow put too much oil in it, could that be the problem?

I have checked the fuel pumps, they seem to be OK. I checked the AMM- and it appeared to be OK- althought the resisance on the Platinum wire was a bit high. I had replaced some of the vacuum hoses, but the rest are going to be pulled too. There are some wires needing replacement under the hood, and I am going to do that soon this Spring.

CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME ANY SUGGESTIONS? ANY EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS BEFORE?

Thank your for your time,

Seth Johnson
