Hi all,
This is a repost, I thought I posted to the 700 forum but it ended up being in the RWD forum.
I just bought a 1990 740 turbo wagon. The PO didn't want to put an
estimated $1200 into it so I got a great deal on it. Turns out that
what it really needed to fix the problems was a throttle body cleaning
and cleaning out the PCV system. Needless to say I will not be going
back to that dealer. Anyway, here are my questions:
1 - What is the correct procedure to adjust the throttle plate
opening? The IAC in this car is a two wire unit, I think this is an
LH 2.4 system. Should I unplug the connector to the IAC and adjust
the throttle plate stop to a certain RPM? I know how to adjust the
TPS once that is done.
2 - There is some kind of electrical part that is installed into to
big hose that connects the air box to the turbo. This part sits
between that big hose and the long hose that comes from the PCV system
on the other side of the engine. What is this? I can't find it
described in any of the books I've got or anywhere in the maint faq.
TIA
-Jake
