Great Wheel and Tire Spec -- '67 122 120-130

Hey,

Thanks to all you replied to my earlier post. I have finally chosen and replaced my wheels and tires and have also dropped in some new springs and shocks. Thought I'd pass on the information to you folks -- this 122 is solid!

16x7 (ASA JS-1) wheels with an 18mm offset (they turn out to be hub-centric wheels)
215/55/16 Tires -- good balance between perfomance and ride (may be too firm for some) - OD measure ~25", which is +/- 1/4"? stock diameter - 165/15.
v-performance progressive lowering springs (1/4 - 1/2" below stock height after settling in.) Thanks John Parker (v-performance.com)
Bilstein shocks

Soon - Anti-sway front and rear, ball-joints, tie-rod ends, and poly bushings

Cornering is flat at speed -- without aftermarket sway bars. In smooth road turning there is little compression of inboard spring and little expansion of outboard. On rough surface turns, the tire stays on the road.
Balanced ride/steer without significant bump steer - it tracks.

(When I bought the car it had 245-45/17's with spacers - boy was it a rocky ride - and not to spec at all.)

For those of you looking for a little more performance feel while keeping a little bit of that family ride (again, a little firm for freeze-heaved roads) this set up will make your smile. I just read over this post and I sound like a real motorhead. But I've just begun this love affair with 122s and now I have a new heart throb.

Good luck -- Patrick
