I'm in the middle of replacing my exhaust manifold gaskets on my 745t and have hit a snag. I've checked the FAQ and picked up some useful info. I finally got all the manifold nuts off, the downpipe is free, the oil return pipe is free at the turbo but blocked by the WG actuator hose.
Problem is reaching the manifold's stiffening plate. I've removed the oil filter and the plate's rear bolt and nut on the stud in the manifold. There is no access to the plate's other bolt as it's blocked by the coolant pipe running to the water pump. I tried to pivot the plate down and free the manifold buy no luck. Looks like the oil filter/cooler adapter has to come off which also looks like the PS pump has to come off to get at it.
The car is on ramps so I have decent access top and bottom.
Also, cylinder #4's upper manifold stud came out with the nut. I might be able to soak the nut/stud and separate them but what is the stud's torque value? Should I use red locktite when putting the stud back into the head? One of the three downpipe to wastegate studs also came out with it's nut. I read these nuts shouldn't be reused anyway so I'll need to find replacements.
Please advise,
