I needed to work on the main fuel pump & filter assembly under the car (under rear seat area) last night and hence needed to put it up on jackstands...
Where do I put the jack (big hydrolic type) to jack up the car to hold it to rest the jackstands? I wanted to put the stand directly on the position where the factory jack clips on so I couldn;t put the jack there of course...
At the front, I rested the jack on what looked like a connecting part of the frame. This worked fine but 'ever so slightly' pushed in the frame... The stands of course held nicely in the factory designed positions for the factory jack.
At the back, I rested the jack i nthe middle of the control arm (I think that is what it's called), raised the vehicle via the suspension and then positioned the stands nicely in the factory designed positions for the factory jack.
Did I hurt the car at all while jacking it up, at the front (slight pushed in) or at the back (via the suspension arm (control arm?))? Any other spots I could have used?
Thanks,
Greg Mustang
