Today I looked at 91 740 wagon. It had about 170k miles on it, excellent exterior condition, interior was in good condition however it was a bit dirty. No big deal. The car was equipped with leather, sunroof, airbag, and heated seats. No ABS & no cruise control. The car drove pretty well. The engine ran pretty smoothly and had decent pickup. The transmission shifted flawlessly (overdrive worked perfectly too). The suspension was tight and rattle free. Nice handling. The only 2 problems noted were a binding steering rack and some blue smoke out of the exhaust. The smoke only occurs when you're beating the living hell out of the car near redline for an extended period of time (climbing a hill in a low gear). I'm not terribly concerned. There didnt seem to be any leaks. It's a 1 owner vehicle. The timing belt is due for a change (which I'll do myself, no biggie). Overall the car seemed pretty nice. The asking price is $1900, but I know I can get him down a bit. What do you guys think?
