water leak clues ? 200 1983

Hi all,

While cleaning out the car today, I discovered the "floor is wet on passenger side" leak.

I noticed that the leak seems to originate at the firewall or in that general vicinity - I haven't gotten to run a hose over it yet, so I don't have a definite location. I did notice that much of the water was gathering closer to the door than to the center of the car, but that could be just from the parking angle. I've pulled back the carpet to feel around, but it got dark before I could do anything else.

I also noticed that some moisture was present on the right-side (passenger side) of the shifter. Wondering if water in that location is a clue to a particular leak. the moisture wasn't on the floor at that location, but was actually located on the passenger side of the "hump" that the shifter sits on, almost as if it was leaking from the shifter, if that visual makes any sense.

Any insight much appreciated,

thanks!

Susan.
