In the 900 survey below, I mentioned that my 1996 965 had its T-Belt changed at 70K, and that I am now at about 106K.
I was warned by a contributor that my belt change must be done now as I am overdue and I risk immediate engine damage.
It was my understanding that the belt in my 960 Series belt was good for 70,000 miles. Has there been problems that warrant belt replacement as early as 36,000 miles as in my case?
Is it a problem with the belts made by certain manufacturers or are all replacement belts inferior to the original factory installed belts?
I obviously don't want to trash my engine as the writer suggests I am at risk of doing, but if my Volvo dealer installed replacement really is safe to use beyond 36,000 mi, I would prefer to avoid this job until it is reasonably justified.
How long is considered safe on a replacement belt?
