I have already searched the archives and only found minimal mention of the bypass valve for the Mitsubishi turbo. I am suspecting a problem with the one on my 745t. On acceleration there is a rattling sound from the area of the turbo which becomes much more pronounced when i let off the gas. I am NOT talking about pinging here...this sound is from the area around the turbo, not the engine. There is no sign of smoke or any oil usage so i am very doubtful that there is any problem with the turbo itself...last time I checked(fairly recently) play in the tubo was almost non- existant. Another problem that may or may not be related is a hesitation on acceleration. The car accelerates nicely up to up to a point and then kind of hesitates for a split second and will then will continue accelerating. I'm guessing here, but maybe the bypass valve is releasing some boost pressure and that is causing the hesitation? Any suggestions?

p.s. I understand that the bypass is external to the turbo on my '87...any info on where it is and what it looks like? Haynes mentions nothing.
