Rt tail and park working now, had to unhook wiring to dash lights to clear up short............Questions

I isolated the short to the dash lights.........I unhooked one set of the gray wires off of the bottom fuse.......Tail and park work now........Now the set I took off must go to the dash lights and Maybe the bulb failier ind.? Does this gray wire feed the Rheostat first? And then feed the dash lights?.....Does the rheostat get grounded regularly?...Thanks in advance......Bob
