Engine too warm, your thoughts appriciated 200

Hi all,

Been batteling high temp reading on 92 240 for some time now. I am in need of fresh ideas.

I have a constant 2/3 reading that does not change with engine load or ambient temp. It never overheated, actually it works fine. Temp started to climb 1/2 year ago, current ready stable for 2 months now

I did:

1) Cleaned and flushed radiator and engine. Using cabin heater does not change temp, radiator was therefor not really suspect.
2) Fitted new (volvo) 92C (197F) thermostat (same as old)
3) Checked temp comp board - not fitted - UK spec I guess??
4) Checked voltage stab - ok
5) Checked gauge with 68 Ohm, reading 3/4 - ok
6) Hooked up a spare temp sender and placed 90C water. Reading on guage was horizontal (1/2). Placed this guage in block. Reading still at 2/3.
7) I this weekend I did the electic fan upgrade (just for fun really). This does not effect the temp even if I run the fan constantly.

Item 6 makes me believe the engine temp is in fact on the high side. So given the fact that my guage seems to work fine I am now leaning towards a faulty (new) thermostat. I was thinking of fitting a cooler one (there goes my cooling fluid again...)

Did I forget something?

Many thanks,

Jorn, Oslo Norway 92, 240 wagon B200F M47 -UK spec- 162kMiles
