Best way to install rear and front tranny seals??? 200

Anyone??? I'm putting new seals on an old bw-55.. already got the old ones off.. I was gonna tap them in with a piece of wood and a rubber mallet.... I've heard about using a socket to hammer it in however that isn't really gonna work because of the splined shaft on either end of the tranny.. i could see how that would work for like a rear main seal on the engine but not for mah tranny.
