OK,(at the 145k mark) I replaced the head gasket, water pump, flame trap, drive belts, and timing belt on my '93 945 NA. While I had the engine apart I also took the time and cleaned the throttle body, piston crowns (I'll NEVER run cheap gas again, that carbon was NASTY) and intake/exhaust. Needless to say it idles/performs/sounds a LOT better, BUT.... When I really lay into the throttle and get the RPM's near 5000, it sputters and immediately drops the rpm's back down to about 3500-4000. If I back off the idle a little, I can keep the rpm's at about 4800. I know it's not the transmission trying to shift, I've repeated the problem with the trans in several positions and with/without the overdrive engaged. Up until I did the major work, I never had this problem. Any help from fellow bricksters is GREATLY appreciated - Push
'93 945 148k and runnin' strong (except for this little issue)
P.S. - No fault codes from the ignition or the electrical systems (Rex-Regina)
