have you use shift lock over ride 900

I usualy just push in the brake, then the car can be put in gear. Now I have to push the shift lock over ride button to move the shifter. I belive the only thing I have done is take the electrical clip off the back of the ignition. Does anyone have any ideas? My parents are comming to take the car tomarrow so I need to fix this asap. Thanks
