rear defrost 900

my 940 turbo wagon was in an accedent, the people who fixed it OOooooo...... I'm not even going to go there. There are 2 wires comming off the new back windows for defrost, one is hooked up to a black wire in the tailgate however the defrost does not work. I checked the fuse, wich was good, the relay sounds good. Doea anyone have any insite on how exactly the defrost works, is it a positive line? If I have to rewire it, that's fine with me I just want it to work. Thanks
