245Ti. 5:45 AM. Weather 20°F and clear. (Friggen freezin') Car started fine and went two blocks....relay starts clattering/chattering like crazy - car dies. Starts again. Drive home, turn all garage and house front lights on....remove relay. Open relay up on bench and pour out about a teaspoon of water...no joke!
This is the same relay that had growth on the circuit board in December and some moisture inside. (car had died in the same manner) I cleaned it really well back then, and sealed the relay case with tune-up silicone grease. Ran like a raped ape until now.
There was no external water leaking into the relay. There is just no way that could have happened. But as I replied to "the Limey" condensation happens....I don't think "sealing" it was such a good idea...maybe drill some vent holes in the housing?????
Anyhow, I cleaned this one again and car actually does run better...weird. Added an extra 15 minutes to the commute!
I also ordered a new spare from Groton. (I had never ordered from them, pleasant person took my order and she said it'd be best to express mail to left coast vs. UPS)
