High idle problem fixed, thanks! 200

My problem with the idle hovering at 1600 is now fixed, thanks for the help! The throttle closure switch wasn't getting "clicked" when the gas was let off, thereby "confusing" the constant idle speed system. Gleaned just enough info from the haynes manual in the store (I'm waiting to find a used one for around $4 before I buy it!) to visualize the adjustment and solve the problem.

The fix: Warm car up. (necessary?) Shut the engine off, but turn everything else back on. Connect neg. lead of voltmeter to ground, other to one of the contacts on throttle closure switch that has a voltage when switch is disengaged. Open the throttle and insert a 0.010" feeler gauge into throttle stop just enough to crack throttle only that far. Loosen screws that hold down switch, slide it down so it closes (opens?) and voltage goes to zero. Back off just until switch just barely disengages. (voltage back up) Remove feeler gauge and voltage should be zero again, just barely cracking the throttle by hand should disengage switch.

Car now purrs at ~800 RPM consistantly!

Thanks,
J
