I am about to replace my 84 240 (B23F) engine harness--I noticed that I have a vacuum switch (Yellow plastic thing mounted on the firewall) that's is spliced into the existing harness. It looks like someone cut open the harness and spliced the wire from the vac. switch into one of the wires of the engine harness via one of those "quick splice" splicers). According to my Haynes manual, this is a 1982 only LH component and is on turbo intercooler models. My question is, do I need this thing? I would rather not cut open my new harness and slice in this component if I don't have to. The only mechanic that could have spliced this in would be a Volvo dealer (my Dad was the original owner since the car was new and always had it serviced at the Dealer)...does anyone know why they would put this in? Thanks.
