'90 740 Rex-Regina with AW71, 190,000km. Car has never cold-started well since I bought it three years ago. Thursday it was -10 C and my wife made it all the way to the middle of the road at end of driveway when it died. Needless to say I got a phone call at work...
I knew the troubles were coming, this past summer I swapped ECT sensor and fuel pressure regulator with known good ones. Also clean throttle body and idle air valve, new air filter, no vacuum leaks I can find. Car runs well when weather is above freezing.
Today, before touching anything, I read the following diagnostic codes
1)signal missing or faulty to/from coolant temp sensor
2)signal missing to/from idle valve
3)signal missing or faulty to/from cold start valve
Of course, today the temp is -1 C and the car started just fine. I reset the codes, and no new codes appeared. Any ideas?
Also, intermittently the 'up arrow' (overdrive indicator?) lights up on the dashboard without my pushing the button on the shifter. Does this mean anything? Do I have a wiring problem somewhere? Any advice is welcome.
