Greetings from Cleveland, land of the "Lake Effect" and the "Alberta Clipper!" Need to know, simply, which component in mid-80s 240 wiper system is, historically, most likely to fail--the multiswitch or the motor. Here's the deal...Driving my trusty '87 240 (135K) home from work the other night, in the midst of another snow squall, wipers on intermittant(to fend off the salt water cocktail that bathes our cars from October through March) and lo and behold, the blades just park themselves and the whole system shuts down! Talk about a 'white knuckle' ride for the last 15 miles on I-71....bad enough on a normal commute, but especially hairy when you can't see! Quick check sez fuse is OK, but popped in a spare anyway...nothing. No activity on any setting of the switch, however the washers still work! Anyone able to tell me which is the most likely culprit? You see, it's cold in the garage and I'd rather start looking at the area that has given owners the most trouble rather than freezing my feet doing diagnostic work for naught. Any help, or experiences would be appreciated. Thanx!
