Fellow brickers,

A few weeks ago I was pulling a non-ac blower motor out of a 91 sedan at a junkyard when I noticed the valve that controls the heater core looked rather fancy compared to mine. Seems to have a thermostatic control on it. Mine is just a on-off valve.

I seem to be adjusting the temperature forever on my car, everytime you drive a bit faster the heater heats up etc. So I went back a few days ago to pull the fancy valve out of the '91.

It certainly looks sophisticated (see link to photo), but I want to make sure it works before I install it. The problems is when I heat or chill the coil at the end (what sticks in the heater core assembly) with water nothing seems to happen with the thermostatic control. I would expect to see some movement.....

How can I test the operation of the valve, should I heat the valve as well? Might this valve be broken? (I only paid $8 for it. How does it work with a metal tube anyway?
