need help with seals 900 1997

Hi Everybody,

Took my '97 964 for the 60K service and the dealer says the oil cooler seal and the transmission mount pan seal need to be replaced. The cost (parts + labor) is about $400.

I would like to know if this is something easy to do or is it better off being done by the dealer or an independent shop. Is this something I can do it, considering I never worked on cars (;-D>) before ? If yes, I would appreciate the procedure and/or pointers to sources of information.

The service and new rear brakes is itself coming over $700 and am trying to save some money here (penny wise pound foolish ?? hope not).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
